Schelfere Spatz is our orange cuvée. As the name suggests (Schelfere meaning skins and Spatz meaning stew), this wine is a blend of several grape varieties. Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Muskat Oliver undergo fermentation using carbonic maceration. Furthermore, Kerner is included, which remains on the skins for 14 days. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are also fermented on the skins and then aged in barriques after pressing. The cuvée is blended shortly before bottling. Fine tannins and balanced acidity contribute to a very harmonious wine, which also shows vibrant fruit aromas.
